New Buddymoons Experiences for Couples and Their Friends At Mexico’s Velas Resorts

CV-VV-RN-0003,medium_large.1469739240.jpgPuerto Vallarta, Mexico (July 10, 2019) – Couples are embracing the “buddymoon,” a honeymoon with friends and loved ones in tow. Don’t believe us? A 2017 Priceline survey showed 12 percent of couples would consider taking a buddymoon, and the trend doesn’t show signs of stopping. (Even Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux embraced the trend for their wedding.) That’s why Velas Resorts is excited to announce its latest offering: Buddymoon packages for couples hosting their destination weddings at four of its properties: Grand Velas Riviera Maya, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, Grand Velas Los Cabos, and Casa Velas.
At Grand Velas Riviera Maya, couples can choose to celebrate with friends before or after their destination fête, with a four-day offering that includes a private welcome cocktail party at the resort’s secluded Zen Pool, its Chaká or Sen Lin restaurant terraces surrounded by the flora and fauna of the Mayan jungle, or its pristine, white sand beach. Additional private experiences include a meditation or cooking class, picnic, or eco- tour—complete with a Chaman friendship ceremony; and a golf or spa day, which includes Velas Resorts’ signature 80-minute spa water ceremony experience.

At Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, the buddymoon experience starts the moment the couple and their friends and family arrive at the resort—and doesn’t end for days. After indulging in a welcome cocktail, guests will be whisked to their rooms, where they’ll undergo a digital detox: All digital devices will be removed by a personal concierge and replaced with board games and books—things that will help the couple truly connect with friends and family. After the wedding, the couple and their guests can unwind with an aromatherapy class and meditation in the resorts’ gazebo gardens; later, they’ll relax by the warmth of a private bonfire on the beach—complete with marshmallows for roasting and the sounds of a live violinist.
Botanical Garden Cocktails LR.jpg/>The next day, the couple and their guests will be whisked away on a 58-foot luxury yacht—with its own living room, kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms, and stocked with sparkling wine and snacks—to Casa Velas, where guests will continue their digital detox and relax with activities that include a painting class and the exclusive sunset cruiseRhythms of the Night by Vallarta Adventures. The buddymoon ends with a private brunch and botanical cocktail class, where a mixologist will teach guests how to make their own signature cocktails using their choice of fresh herbs.
And at Grand Velas Los Cabos, the private buddymoon experience includes champagne and raw bar indulgences; a private chocolate clam clambake; and a fishing excursion with a chef to catch, prepare, and enjoy fresh ceviche. Spa experiences include the water ceremony, Aromatherapy Workshop, Tequila Cream Massages and yoga on the beach.
